The conference will be held in conjunction with the Gawai Dayak—an arts and cultural festivals of the local people (i.e., Dayak) that still remain preserved until today. Gawai Dayak is the only Dayak cultural event which is annually held in the Equator City of Pontianak, West Kalimantan. In addition to the core program of the festival, that is reading the spell (nyangahathn), a number of traditional cultures such as various traditional ceremonies, traditional games, the selection of prince and princes Dayak, and various forms of traditional crafts are also displayed. These attractions make the Gawai Dayak as an exotic event in a modern society with its associated modern life style. The Gawai Dayak will be held for one week where its peak event will be a day after the closing of the conference. The conference participants can attend a “Social Event” which will be facilitated by the Local Committee and Local Government.
